The end of Xorg is no longer in site.
theres no conspiracy here - red hat and canonical want it to die and any fork to fail. Because they don't want to support it for the next 7/10 years.
They want to be able to shake their arms and say "dead project" - so a fork that gets security updates is contrary to their interests.
Open source has enshittified such that open source is now contrary to the interests of open source companies.

I'm still running Debian on my small home server (that may change soon) but I have fully embraced @fedora on the desktop. Both my laptop and desktop are running the latest Fedora and have been for about 3 months. I may go with CentOS on the server soon. Just not sure how much I really want to tackle that project right now.
Why the change? Pretty simple: Community. The Fedora community is nothing short of awesome, and in the 30+ years that I've been running Linux, I've always said that community in an open source project is the most important part of the project.

My name is Karl and this is my #introduction. I've just joined courtesy of installing #Vivaldi browser and finding a pointer to here. With everything that's going on in the world I am less inclined to be connected to Facebook, Instagram and the like, or to share my data so widely. I've reduced my exposure... I just liked it and thought perhaps it could inspire a way of looking at things, so I adopted it for my blog page.
I work in technical sales for #RedHat an IT #Software company, and in my spare time I like to play and sing. I play #fiddle, #guitar(s) and accordion.. though mostly fiddle. I also love #dogs, and #walking in the #countryside, and #ClassicCars and #Motorcycles. To stay #healthy I like #running, #walking and doing #yoga mostly.

The desktop team in Red Hat has another open position. We’re looking for someone to work on Flatpak automation, for someone who enjoys working on infrastructure. Although the job description states 2+ years of experience, it’s suitable for juniors. Formal experience can be replaced by relevant open source contributions. Being onsite in Brno, Czech Republic is preferred, but not required. We’re open to hiring good candidates elsewhere, too.

wow, Fedora has some pretty wild networking problems going on for days now and apparently no one is working on them. Took me six tries to log into Discussions right now.
Somebody want to drop by Red Hat and help them figure out how to turn the server back on?

I am saddened to say that today is my last day at #RedHat - I’ve been laid off. I had just passed my five-year mark, even imagined one day retiring with the red fedora. It worries me that a long-time #SysAdmin doesn’t have a place there, but I will treasure the relationships built and skills gained.
