Relentless
My clock counts distance
in millenia – each, one
thousand miles to go.

Write block , road hawk
with a hand sock, doing
a puppet show, dusty
shoulder of the street.
To me it sounds like
“screeeeee”, but
apparently it’s worked
up this whole routine,
and slays in Vegas.
If I knew hawkilese, my
words would flow. So for
now I am student. Later,
we hunt for vermin. I
might even poem
about it.

Sat to write the poem
of the century.
Adulation would be mine.
The poem had other plans.
It grabbed the pen and
continued furiously.
Words rose off the page,
helix-twisting window
out to dank wet-leave
paths, bifurcating at
each wavelength, still.
I could only follow.

The last couple of days I've become rather detached from my poetry. I had a strong streak for some time, and there were even some really good ones, but I think I need to step away until I can return with a new focus and purpose. It's like God stopped talking to me. It's over. It's over until I can find a new insight. I need to resurface. Or enter a new door.
