The four main groups of statues on what is now the rear facade of the Mitchell Library in Glasgow. Originally part of the St Andrews Halls, they were created in the 1870s by John Mossman. They represent a variety of figures associated the arts, ranging from the Greek God Apollo to William Shakespeare. Without Mossman, and the other sculptors he both taught and inspired, Glasgow's buildings would look rather naked, and much less eye-catching.
