Yes, Mastodon has become my home in the internet. It's such a wonderful place, full of lovely, caring, quirky people.
It doesn't take itself so seriously, and most of all... it's not selling anything to you, unlike all of the big tech social media places. It's such a relief not to have to compete with algorithms and ads.
Here, it's people, and I love it.

Sadly for me, all my reader friends are on FB and only there, apparently not willing to be drawn over here. That's why I keep my account there, when otherwise I would consolidate my presence here.

So sad that only a handful of my friends and readers made the move but I am not going back. Even just doing a promo post over there felt wrong. 😔
@strangeseawolf It always irks me when media writes "X, formerly Twitter". If the owner wants to rename the service to something that looks like a placeholder, let him, and if you must mention it by name, you don't need to do his PR work for him. 🙂
I have all but given up on all other asocial media. For me it's Fediverse and personal blogs! (Of which I have found plenty through the Fediverse, so there!)
@strangeseawolf @paul @DavidBridger @floofpaldi @Firlefanz I very rarely go over to that site anymore. Usually just to check DW news, then I crash out quickly before I hit all the infighting. Wasn’t such a big wrench for me I suppose because I never had “readers” as such, just three people or thereabouts who sometimes read some of my fanfic. Also, someone I know follows me about on other sites and it’s uncomfortable.

Yeah, i am also missing the DW news here but then again, I don't miss the drama and if the same people were over here we would have the same drama, so 🤷
@strangeseawolf @paul @DavidBridger @floofpaldi @Firlefanz Exactly, and some people I quite enjoyed interacting with have recently just started spouting a lot of bile, a lot of artists in particular whom I used to like talking to suddenly have decided to become overtly racist towards white people (like saying we all need to d&@ etc) and it’s just so disappointing. But good to have an escape.

I for one will always use the sentence I used above even in spoken word or presentations. The moment he will call his daughter by her name, I will call it X.
