I always have written but nearly exclusively non-fiction. That changed when my husband died in 2019. I got sucked into Doctor Who and somewhere within that universe I found that I wanted to write stories, mostly stories that explored what was going on within the characters on the psychological level and what wasn't shown on screen.
I started writing fanfic and until now haven't stopped writing. I even slowly started writing non-fiction again, something I couldn't do for nearly 3 years. Grief finds strange ways of expression.
I don't regret writing. It is my escape from reality and what keeps me sane. Sometimes I can't write because reality intrudes in a way my mind shuts down. But then, I am just sad that I can't write, not that I have started writing.
