Apparently Libre Office is free and contains no AI.
Is there a free (non windows non google OS) which can replace windows 10 or older on an old PC ?
I know enough to make systems crash !😂😂😂
@golgaloth My kids all said "we're not touching Microsoft with a barge pole" and started out with one of the various free Office-like things that were around at the time.
And after a while each of them came to us and said "please can I have the real Office?" - something to do with wanting to be able to actually open and read their homework files from school, that sort of thing.
#LibreOffice is terrific !!!
@golgaloth @LabSpokane The AI in Office is what got me to switch. After using Word for 30 years, however, I'm not very happy with Writer. But I'll deal with it, because I don't want what I write going to Microsoft or it's cloud or being read by its AI. And I'm pretty freaking tired of being charged an annual fee to use software I'll pull out a couple of times a month.
I dumped Adobe product years ago and never looked back.
@mlanger @golgaloth If we switch and make feature requests, maybe, just maybe we can get what we need and be free of the vultures.
@LabSpokane @golgaloth It's not feature requests that I need. It's interface changes to make it more intuitive to a Word user. And, having recently dealt with their Writer documentation team, I have serious doubts whether anything like that will ever happen.
@WilsonSmith @golgaloth Any Linux distro, Ubuntu or mint are popular.
There are various versions of Ubuntu designed for older hardware,
