Today, we’re back in the 1960s with Lotus. This is the Mk1 version of the Ford Cortina Lotus (usually referred to as the Lotus Cortina), seen here at last year’s NEC Classic Car Show. The Mk1 was introduced in 1963. The Lotus treatment included a special twin-cam version of the Ford Kent engine, bodywork strengthening and a more sophisticated suspension set-up than the standard Ford Cortina. Something of a legend. More in a similar vein tomorrow.
@davidwilkins Drove a non Lotus GT in that paint scheme 2x in 1965, drifting lessons from the owner. The stock Cortina GTs were also the police cars in Bermuda at that time.
@davidwilkins Jim Clark driving the 1964 Lotus Cortina.
@stevewfolds @davidwilkins when I see the Cortona, I always think "Jim Clark" ❤️
