@mack505 The only ones I really hear of are OnlyOffice and WPS Office, but I’m not sure how those particularly function, since the former is said to just be a web app wrapped up like a desktop application.
There’s also FreeOffice, but Softmaker is behind that and really wants you to subscribe.
The real question though is what variation of MS Office is she using or has used the most? If it is 2003/2004 or earlier, then Libre/OpenOffice dislike makes very little sense to me.
@bryceac She’s on a recent version. Not sure which. I understand that Libre looks and works like an older version, which is frankly why I like it.
@mack505 If it’s recent, it’s probably the 2021 version or later, which will have the ribbon interface that was introduced in the 2007/2008 versions, so OnlyOffice, WPS Office, and FreeOffice/Softmaker might be worth a try.
I like the older style UI better too, which is one reason I like LibreOffice, aside from the fact that I can read stuff better in LibreOffice on macOS than MS Office these days. The default settings in the latter were good until an update a while back.
